October 2019 – Fitness Presentation

3 Main Reasons to Use a HRM while while taking a TT session

  1. Helps members estimate Intensity they are working at in real time. Easy for a member to understand if they need to increase intensity or if they need to decrease intensity by the feedback the HRM is giving. *A member is more likely to have success with working out if they are working at an intensity level that is appropriate
    1. MAYBE ADD A NOTE ABOUT HARDER / ALWAYS BEING IN THE RED DOESN’T MEAN BETTER?
    2. MAYBE ADD A NOTE ABOUT WHAT GREEN / ABILITY TO RECOVER TELLS US ABOUT HEART HEALTH?
  1. Tracks quantifiable data for members. Average HR, MAX HR and expended calories. The data is stored in the Chuze fitness app under workouts tile and also sent in a daily email. Members love seeing progress. It can be looked at in various options, weekly, monthly and yearly. Some of the specifics that I like to review on the app are total time working out over the year, total calories in a monthly view and average Heart rate over the year. This data is underutilized and is valuable to review to set up a member for success throughout their fitness journey.
  1. It’s a simple tool to help set goals and provide valid feedback on how our body is responding to the adaption of exercise.

Simple analogy that would be great to use for tours:

Explain to guests and members that it’s like the dashboard in your car; similar concept right? Your car displays your speed, temperature of the engine and how much gas you have in the tank providing you feedback on how your car is running. The heart rate monitor does the same thing… it measures intensity (how hard you are working), tracks calories burned in real time, AVG HR and the MAX HR so you know how well your body is responding to the exercises. You wouldn’t drive your car with no dash board right? (Plant this question in their head.) The HRM is your dashboard to help you understand how to workout at the proper intensity.

Hell week is approaching – TT’s largest annual event. This is another great opportunity for members to wear their HRM. The workouts are prescribed to have increased intensity challenges if members want to take part in them. This will give them the opportunity to set record high calorie burns or even push their MAX HR in these sessions.  Shout out to Ashton and Antonio for revamping the names / programming of the workouts. Posterior Chain Saw Massacre is going to be my jam to take. Great play on words!
